Poetry Open Mic - Mike Geffner Presents – “American Idol” Open Mic Night – Thursday, August 05, 2010 at the One and One Bar & Restaurant in Manhattan, NY.

This will be the Poetry Open Mic of the summer! Mike Geffner, of the well renowned Poetry Spoken Word event “The Inspired Word,” will be presenting his version of “American Idol” -  poetry style.  If you are a fan of poetry spoken word and follow the “American Idol” series, you will love the concept of this show.

Mike Geffner has taken his “The Inspired Word” show to a whole other level of entertainment. This Poetry Open Mic will be the door opener for some of the HOTTEST poets to get a chance to showcase their talent at one of the HOTTEST venues and events in Manhattan.

Poetry Spoken Word fans, this will be a must-see show. You will be talking about this show for months. Not only will you see a great show of some of the best poets in NY; you will also get to join in on witnessing a creative version of one of your favorite shows done LIVE. Imagine, “American Idol”- Poetry Style!

‘This is how this Poetry Open Mic will work:

The first 20 people to sign up for the open mic this night will get a shot at not only winning a feature spot at an Inspired Word event before end the 2010 but hefty $50 as well.
Readers of poetry or prose will get ONE shot – for four minutes and four minutes ONLY (go over and you’ll not only lose SERIOUS points with the judges but likely blow your chances of winning) – to show what they got.

The winner will be decided at the end of the night by a consensus vote from our panel of three staff members, our own version of Simon, Randy, and Paula, who will offer no-hold barred critiques after each performance.

Second place winner will get 2 comps to future shows, third place 1 comp.

IF YOU’VE ALREADY FEATURED AT THE INSPIRED WORD OR SCHEDULED TO FEATURE, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS EVENT.

This will become a regular feature staged four times a year – in the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

It’ll be a great way to discover new talent.
